The new sole consists of rice husk and leather powder, creating a wet grip rubber sponge to improve grip in damp conditions.

The ASICS GEL-DS Trainer already hosts a range of proven technologies renowned amongst long distance runners. The new sole construction sees the powder particles of rice husks, which have sharp edges that work in the same way as a running spike, coupled with leather powder’s outstanding water absorption. The leather powder breaks the water film on every foot strike – meaning improved grip, greater support and injury prevention when trying to beat personal bests.
