Any fans of the beautiful game will find it’s a joy to watch this fast-paced game that showcases great ball skills and real passion in an exciting and highly competitive, yet fun and friendly environment. The soccer talent on display is second to none and demonstrates a genuine love of the game. They may not be superstars – yet but these players can flick, dribble and volley with the best! Here we profile the pride of England, a team who took mighty Germany to the limit in two recent friendlies.
ENGLAND
Forget the Premiership egos and huge salaries, these England stars play for pride and glory! Made up of the best beach soccer players from across the country, with Three Lions on the chest, these players can do no wrong! The side is managed by Luke Kerr, a man with more than seven years’ experience of coaching at the top level of the sport.
Giancarlo Giancovich
England captain and a master of the overhead kick, he is an inspiring
player to watch. Giancarlo even scored a goal from a bicycle kick from inside his own half – against world champions France too! Tends to sit deeper in midfield but can roam forward and score vital goals.
Andrew Grainger
Back in the England squad after a lengthy layoff from injury, Grainger is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the sport. Voted ′Player of the Tournament’ at a recent international beach soccer competition.
Gianpaolo Giancovich
A true character of England beach soccer, GP Giancovich has amazing reflexes and an astonishing throw from goal.
Sean Rann
A strong defender who is always switched on, it takes a lot to get past Rann. Also able to score spectacular goals when needed.
Jon Rodriguez
A newbie in the squad, Rodriguez provides a calm, cool-headed approach to the game, with quick feet and an exceptional first touch.
Terry Bowes
Veteran Bowes has played for England for more than six years. Skillful and able to score from anywhere on the field, he’s the rock of the team, a player that would make any international beach soccer side.
Tobias Donbavand
Donbavand is the youngest member of the England squad, but has been playing beach soccer for some time. Considered England’s player of the future, he boasts a blistering shot and superb ball control.
Mitchell Day
Now in his second season with England, Day continues to show real promise. Rapidly demonstrating his importance to the national cause with great goals and strong play.
Tony Kerr
Always a regular on the England beach soccer scene, Kerr left the country for a couple of years to coach in Boston, USA. Back in the country, Kerr is now looking to add to the massive amounts of goals he scored before his departure.
Gary Funnell
A strong player with exceptional fitness, skill, agility, vision and awareness, great things are expected of this midfielder in 2008.
Mark Mitchell
Known as Scrappy, Mark plays with 100% passion and commitment. He has been the youngest ever captain and a great player key to the England team.
Gareth Icke
Gareth Icke signed for Sociedad in 2007. The world-class ′keeper made his England debut against Greece in 2006, where he saved a penalty and kept a clean sheet.
