In an exclusive interview on Sportsvibe TV, actor James Nesbitt has spoken about his fears of suffering from suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT), the result of his long-haul commute from Britain to New Zealand, where he is shooting Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit'.
Nesbitt, who plays Bofur in the making of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic prequel to the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy was playing at the Leuka Mini Masters charity golf day, where he revealed he was suffering with unusual pains in his foot.
"I have an injury in my foot. People seem to think it's deep vein thrombosis, but what a way to go. So I may have to go and get a scan before I go back to New Zealand."
Nesbitt made light of the situation though, saying: "It's very bad, it's all swollen up, [former Manchester United star] Ray Wilkins felt it, which is reason enough for me having it.
"The thing is, if it is DVT and if I do die, then what a way to go. But if I do die, tell every woman that I have ever been with that I was talking about her at the time."
The Northern Irish star went on to speak about his role in the blockbuster, due to be released next year.
"I'm sort of THE dwarf really. I'm playing Bofur, it's great. There's a veil of secrecy over it, but it's extraordinary in that it's the biggest film ever made.
"We're making two and it's incredibly detailed and wonderful and fantastic and they're just like a little family making this movie in a very beautiful place. It's been an extraordinary time, I've been out there five months, I go back for another five and then go back next year…I'll be doing it forever."
When asked whether he would be open to a cast tattoo, Nesbitt said: "I'm against tattoos, but I'm thinking of keeping my prosthetic and wearing it. They released a picture of me and I come off quite well. I look like I'm in a Swedish rock band of the seventies.
"It's going to be my new look. Because I've got a little snoot, it's not really a nose. Now they've given me a nose and its good to have a nose, it's a reverse of what i have down below."
