The GEL-KINSEI maintains its position as ASICS′ House of Innovation as the third generation model launches several new technologies as well as updates on existing ASICS features. Particular attention has been paid to developing technologies and features that will help significantly reduce the weight of the GEL-KINSEI 3. The result, weighing in at a remarkable 353 grams compared to the 409 grams of the GEL-KINSEI 2, takes running shoe technology to a whole new level.

1. Guidance Line
The updates to the GEL-KINSEI begin with ASICS′ revolutionary new Guidance Line technology. Aimed at creating a more adaptive platform, the midsole and outsole incorporate a visible Flex Groove design that follows the foot′s centre-of-pressure during its gait cycle.
This vertical groove encourages the foot to maintain a constant –line of progression′ as it replicates the midline of pressure with each stride.
Reaching the ideal toe-off position, the Guidance Line finishes on the medial side allowing the lateral platform pod to release and thus encourage re-supination of the heel. As a result, running efficiency is increased, which in turn delays the onset of muscle fatigue and decreases the risk of injury.

2. Heel Clutching System
Another new technology and additional weight-saving innovation in the shoe′s upper is the Heel Clutching System, in which an external extension of the existing Pebax cradle replaces the previous internal heel counter.
For the first time ever in ASICS′ shoes, the Pebax mould extends upwards from the heel cradle, and –clutches′ the entire rearfoot to create a more lightweight, stable, comfortable, and irritation-free environment. In keeping with the desire for better support, the medial side is thicker, with an additional rib structure, for added support.
The removal of the internal heel counter also allows the two layers of memory foam that make up the shoe′s PHF (Personal Heel Fit) to provide a more customised fit for different foot types. The PHF itself comprises a stitch-less design to offer an enhanced heel-fitting environment.

3. Propulsion Trusstic System
First introduced in the GEL-KINSEI 2, the Propulsion Trusstic System enhances proper foot function by mimicking the foot′s connective tissue and creating tension as the foot progresses towards the toe-off phase of its gait. The newly designed version of the Propulsion Trusstic System utilises lighter, stronger plastic in order to help keep the shoe′s total weight to a minimum. The medial midfoot itself is supported with an ultra strong yet incredibly lightweight graphite plate
to ensure a stable platform.

4. Discrete Heel Unit
An iconic technical feature of the GEL-KINSEI series, this revolutionary system of individual, discrete dual density rearfoot GEL units offers unbeatable shock reduction, impact load guidance, and stability for a truly exceptional ride. Modified for the GEL-KINSEI 3, the new Discrete Heel Unit includes a re-designed heel area and lighter weight Pebax cradle.
The new heel continues to feature dual-density GEL Cushioning Systems, with 53- degree silicon GEL on the medial side and 47-degree silicon GEL on the lateral; a set-up that enables the shoe to both support and deform where it is needed most. Integral to the design of the new generation GEL-KINSEI, weight reduction is accomplished with a smaller and thinner Pebax cradle housing the GEL units themselves.
