ASICS launches the latest version of its flagship Structured Cushioning shoe – the GEL-Kayano 16 – incorporating ASICS’ latest cutting-edge technologies and gender specific features to deliver an all-time favourite style. ASICS’ constant Research and Development at the Institute of Sports Science in Kobe is based on its ';Kaizen’ (continuous improvement) principles and its pursuit of technical perfection through research and innovation. ASICS is the only footwear brand to research and address the hormonal differences of women and the injuries they might suffer as a result - the latest research being featured within the ASICS GEL-Kayano 16. The Gender Specific Space Trusstic system recognises the normal periodic changes taking place in the shape of the woman’s arch and accommodates its controlled deformation into the space within the system. The GEL-Kayano 16 also houses two other women’s specific technologies: the Soft Top DuoMax System and the PLUS3 design. The next generation Soft Top DuoMax System incorporates a supple top portion that helps accommodate the laxer tendons days of a woman’s cycle, provides greater comfort and enhance gait efficiency. Another possible problem women face with laxer tendons is a damaged Achilles. By changing the gradient of the midsole slightly, ASICS’ new PLUS3 design reduces the load on the Achilles, which helps alleviate any tension and reduces the risk of injury. The inclusion of ASICS’ Gender-Specific Cushioning System takes the GEL-Kayano 16 one step closer to gender-specific running heaven. Providing a cushioned platform feel in the forefoot, the top layer of injected SoLyte in the women’s forefoot is lower in density so as to guarantee improved cushioning and forefoot comfort. The GEL-Kayano 16 also houses the Impact Guidance Line System enhancing the foot’s natural gait and allowing a more natural foot strike. The Discrete eyelet works with the Asymmetrical Lacing Design, reducing irritation by mimicking the foots skin. Individual piecing positioned around each eyelet enables them to work independently to provide a direct pull from the lower to the upper part of the shoe and so create an incredibly snug and comfortable fit.
