For leading performance footwear and apparel manufacturer ASICS, there are no boundaries to imagination or innovation. Their new spring-summer 2008 range of footwear features some outstanding new additions, as well as some exciting tweaks to proven favourites.

The pinnacle of the range for spring-summer 2008 is the new GEL-Kinsei 2, a triumph of running technology, ride and efficiency. The GEL-Kinsei 2 includes cutting edge advancements in sports footwear design, from thermoregulation, to explosive propulsion and the ultimate in lightweight support, the GEL-Kinsei 2 is truly a running masterpiece.

ASICS’ core running range has once again been taken to the brink of what is possible from a running shoe. ASICS’ structured cushioning range, which provides extra support to runners who overpronate, is led by the GEL-Kayano, now in its fourteenth variant. The GEL-Kayano has been perpetually honed and refined to enhance the running experience. This latest version features a greater amount of GEL in the forefoot and rearfoot, with an additional enlarged TPU plate for optimal shock absorption.

The GEL-Kayano is joined by a new member, the GEL-3000 and an updated GT-2130. The GEL-3000 is a brand new model, with a two-piece SoLyte unit and one-piece forefoot GEL unit for a premium and lightweight ride. The GT-2130 is the next evolution of ASICS’ top-selling GT series, with a firmer ride for serious runners in need of a some structure. Rounding off the structured cushioning range is the GEL-1130, an excellent shoe with some top features at great value.

ASICS’ cushioning range, which features the immensely popular GEL-Nimbus 9, also has a new addition to its family. The eye-catching GEL-Landreth 4 is a lightweight and pacy shoe that’s ideal for shorter races like 5k and 10k runs.

The GEL-Cumulus leads the way for ASICS’ gender specific selection of shoes, which all provide women with greater support through the Gender Specific Space Trusstic, a device that adapts to changing oestrogen levels and foot shape during monthly cycles.

Other manufacturers take a ’;one size fits all’ approach to running shoes, discarding the essential biomechanics involved to improve the running experience and reduce the risk of injury.
